Joel,

The Antrim 27 is way ahead of the J/80 in many ways...First off it's much quicker rating a 78 PHRF vs. 120. Much easier to dry-sail with its retractable keel, much roomier interior with a place for a head and real counter-tops and quarter berths. If your planning on doing any ocean offshore sailing the A27 has a much bigger boat feeling. The Antrim 27 does cost slightly more than the J/80, but you get lots more. Both boats are eqaually easy to sail. The Antrim 27 has a much drier interior plus the sprit pole is on the deck and not intruding in the interior. One thing the J/80 does have over the Antrim 27 is a strong one-design class in certain areas. Below Conrad Arnold has some thoughts on the J/80 vs. A27. Thanks for your post.
