I read the commentson articulating the pole during jibes, and feel that if you need someone with "good upper body strength" that you are jibing the pole incorrectly. The only time upper body strength comes into play is in a blown jibe.
The first part of the sequesnce is correct; get ready by setting the lever to the correct position, and hold it there with the winch handle. It doesn't take much to do that.
Then, as the boat is turned, turn the pole under the sail, with little or no load. When done that way, your average 10 year old can do it. It's all about timing.
